What To Do After an Accident??

If you have been injured in an auto accident, you have likely felt overwhelmed, worried, and scared about your medical bills, your inability to work, and transportation.  In addition, you may be in significant pain, dealing with mental trauma, and worried about how you will provide for your family.  Not to mention, dealing with insurance companies can be an incredible headache, particularly if you do not have an attorney.  Johnston Law PC is here to help!  So, take a deep breath and follow these steps to make sure you are heading in the right direction:

  • Call the Police and cooperate in the preparation of the accident report;

  • Take pictures / videos of the scene of the accident and the vehicles involved;

  • Take pictures / videos of all of the passengers of your vehicle just in case the police office excludes somebody from the report;

  • If a witness is willing to talk to you about the accident, ask if you can get their contact information and take a video of them explaining what they witnessed just incase they police office excludes them from the report;

  • If you believe you might be injured, report this to the police office and request medical treatment;

  • If you were not transported to the hospital immediately after the accident, but you believe you might be injured, go to the emergency room or to your primary care physician ASAP following the accident;
